Kustom Blade

Baxter of California, the premium men's grooming line since 1965, will be celebrating it's 45th anniversary. As part of their celebration, they commissioned American Blade manufacture Hart Steel to produce a limited edition cut throat razor. The blade dons a 14k gold inlay “45” on the spine of the blackened steel blade, signifying the 45 years of history. In addition, collaborated with leather company Makr Carry Goods to produce a custom leather (Horween Chromexcel Horse Work Butts) sleeve for the blade.

“We are not making a big fuss about our 45th anniversary, but wanted to produce something special and significant to commemorate the milestone,” says US!

The Hart Steel razor blade is predominately a hand made product, and all of the processes are completed in Northern Michigan by skilled artisans. Hart Steel is tested at a Rockwell hardness of 63, which gives one's razor the sharpest and most long-lasting edge possible. Artisan Technicians, from start to finish, hand grind, mark, sharpen and assemble each razor. Each AT personally stamps each razor to indicate his craftsmanship. The Horse Butt Leather used was chosen since it has a natural beauty and durability. The leather cases were cut from Horween Chromexcel Work Butt, hand sewn, hand edged painted and polished.

Baxter of California recently unveiled an all new expansion of the brand with an old school barbershop in Los Angeles. The new shop name is considered as an homage to the brand's founder, Mr. Baxter Finley. The space houses a classic decor with rare Koken “white king” chairs from the 1900s and custom made build-outs.

The blade retails for $345 and will be available at Baxter Finley Barber & Shop and
online at www.baxterofcalifornia.com on June 16, 2010.

Only made a limited run, so these will go fast!
