Muertos

An offshoot of the Brown Berets, oftentimes viewed as the Hispanic version of the Black Panthers, Las Adelitas de Azatlan was an all female Mexican revolutionary group founded in the 1970s who based their ideologies and identity with the soldaderas of the Mexican Revolution. The term La Adelita has, since the Revolution, become incorporated into Mexican culture with folk songs and now bears heavy weight as a definition for a woman of strength and courage, the perfect theme for Sylvia Ji's latest solo show, opening July 10th at Joshua Liner Gallery.
